Who we are

The International School for Advanced Research in Cultural Studies (ISARCS) is a transnational and transdisciplinary scientific center and intellectual community at Samara State Institute of Culture intended to investigate historical and contemporary cultural changes and their local and global social consequences. The key goal of ISARCS is to generate ideas and strategy on cultural transformations and sustainable development. The School gives training support for postgraduate students and young scholars, and provides intellectual strategies conductive to the public good.

The International School for Advanced Research in Cultural Studies (ISARCS) is founded by Samara State Institute of Culture (SSIC) as professional association of cultural anthropologists, philosophers, sociologists, historians and other specialists, engaged in fundamental and applied research in the current science of culture and in related fields of humanities.

ISARCS aims to develop and implement fundamental cultural studies in the context of modern knowledge and social development based on theoretical and applied innovations, transdisciplinary and international scientific integration and socio-cultural projecting.

A special mission of ISARCS is the inclusion of Samara State Institute of Culture in the international educational and scientific communication, the development of trans-institute cooperation and partnership, information, educational, pedagogical and student exchange, scientific, artistic and business collaboration.

ISARCS's tasks:

Building of stable and functional infrastructure of scientific relations ("professional bridges") focused on the development of fundamental research and international scientific cultural integration

Increasing the academic mobility and qualification of scientific and scientific-pedagogical community

Involvement of leading Russian and foreign specialists in co-operation within research projects, dissertations and a review of publications prepared for publication in authoritative scientific journals

Managing of a resource information and educational database that provide the latest scientific materials of lecturers, researchers, postgraduate students and capable students in their current research and innovation project activities

Promoting the participation of SSIC in the international educational programs of the UN, UNESCO and other professional and public unions;

Regular dialogue of scientists and lecturers of SSCI with their foreign colleagues, as well as with leading scientific and educational institutions of the world, including joint scientific conferences, lectures, seminars, meetings, exhibitions, scientific publications and other events;

Conducting cultural expertise and analysis of strategic development in the sphere of culture and creative economics.
